Welcome to the TRIAL LEC Exam Prep Review Course!

This is a trial version of the LEC Exam Prep Review Course, and you’re part of the first group helping shape it. The course is actively being developed, so you may notice changes, new materials, or adjustments along the way as we learn what works best for all of you!

Your participation and feedback are an important part of this process. My goal is to create a review experience that is useful, realistic, and genuinely supportive of your continued learning.  Your feedback will help make the course better for future students.  I am grateful for you being part of the process.

A Few Things to Know…

This review course is independently hosted by me and is not affiliated with or provided by UCSD Extended Studies.  The goal is for UCSD Extended Studies to offer the review course once it is developed. Because this is the first trial of the review course, adjustments will be made along the way based on your participation, questions, and feedback. Content, activities, and the format of the course may change as we learn what is most helpful.

The course is intended to support your preparation and reinforce the knowledge and skills covered in the LEC program, but participation does not guarantee a particular outcome on any examination or certification process. Your exam results will depend on many factors beyond this review course, including your individual preparation and performance on the exam.

This review course is one resource for your preparation and is not intended to replace independent study, professional judgment, or any preparation materials or guidance provided by the organization administering your examination.

Lactation Certification Exam Review & Preparation (subject to change)
Main Page/ Welcome
Welcome!

You’ve completed your lactation education. Now we’re going to focus on turning that knowledge into exam readiness.

This six-week review course is designed to help you:

  • Understand what to expect from the certification examination
  • Identify the knowledge and skills you already have
  • Recognize areas that need further study
  • Practice applying lactation knowledge to exam-style questions and clinical situations
  • Develop practical study tools you can continue using throughout your exam preparation
How This Course Works

Each week follows the same basic structure:

  1. Review & Learn
Focused review of high-yield content relevant to certification examination preparation.
  2. Apply It
An activity designed to help you use the information rather than simply review it.
  3. Build Your Study Tool
A guided activity to help you create or complete a useful study resource for your own exam preparation.
  4. Practice Questions
A small set of exam-style questions with answers and rationales.

Live Sessions
Four one-hour live sessions will be held throughout the six-week course. These sessions will focus on application, clinical reasoning, practical examination preparation, and discussion. If you cannot attend live, a recording will be provided.

What to Expect

This is a review and preparation course, not a complete lactation education course.

You have already completed substantial lactation education. The goal here is to help you organize, apply, and retrieve that knowledge in an examination setting.

You should expect to do some independent studying outside of the structured course activities. You will also be guided through and encouraged to create your own study materials and continue reviewing areas where you identify gaps.

This is a pilot review course. The course is being offered for the first time, and your participation and feedback will help shape future versions. Some content, activities, and resources may be adjusted as we learn what is most useful to students.

The course is designed to support your preparation, but completion of the course does not guarantee a particular examination outcome or certification.

Before You Begin

Before starting Week 1, take a few minutes to think about:

  • When you plan to take your certification examination
  • How you are currently preparing
  • Which areas of lactation knowledge you feel least confident about
  • Which areas you feel least confident about
  • What you hope to gain from this review course

You will use this information throughout the course to help guide your independent study and identify areas where additional preparation may be helpful.

When you’re ready, begin Week 1: Know the Exam.
